Forecast Question Analysis (SPM 2017) - Maize and Paddy Interspecies Competition

Let's discuss one question asked by one student:


QUESTION: Both maize and paddy plants are planted in the same area. The area is given a small amount of fertilizer. Discuss their growth pattern as shown in the diagram above (10 marks)


In order to understand their relation, observe the comic below:

















Since they are grown in the same area, competition occurs between them. We can see that initially paddy has higher growth rate, but eventually taken over by maize due to their larger adult size. So, the perfect answer scheme can be outlined as below:
